Moisturising is one of the basic steps of any skin care treatment because water is an essential element in the tissue of the skin.
A healty skin = 70% water in the dermis (deepest layer of the skin) and 13% water in the stratum corneum (superficial layers of the epidermis)
When the water content in the stratum corneum is lower than 13%, the corneocyte cells lose their biomechanical/functional properties.
Result: skin becomes dry and looses its elasticity and flexibility. This dehydration or loss of water is caused by internal and external factors (for instance pollution, smoking, cold, sun, etc.).
However, they are not the only factors affecting the skin. Age also has an influence on dehydration. As time goes by, the production rate of new corneocytes decrease (the skin renewal cycle slows down) and they become more vulnerable to possible aggressions. Signs like tight skin, desquamation and irritation appear. Scaling and cracking of the skin enables more water evaporation than desired.
The hydrating complex in the Hydravine Products applied to the skin, acts at two different levels to achieve a combined double effect on the epidermis:
1) Immediate and long-lasting improvement of the moisturising level of epidermis
2) Regulation of desquamation that leads to a better appearance of skin
